The Last Intact Forest Landscapes of Northern European Russia Scientific advisor: Professor Olga V. Smirnova, Doctor of Biological Sciences. Reviewers: This work is the first attempt at identifying boreal forest areas of minimal human disturbance (intact) using high-resolution satellite imagery that allows most forms of disturbance in the natural ecosystems to be directly identified. The work was done at the GIS laboratory of Greenpeace Russia using, in part, materials prepared by the Biodiversity Conservation Center and the Socio-Ecological Union International.
