Only part of Russian forests can be used
Well, Russia still has the largest forest area in the world.

…However, only part of these forests can be used
- Elfin woods with bush-like 5-m high trees, making up around 10% of Russian forests, are also calculated as “forest” by the Russian Forest Service.
- Nearly half (46%) of Russian forests are low productive according to the Forest Service’s data (at least 5th site quality class).
- Most of the forests in northern Siberia and the Far East are located in remote and hardly accessible areas - commercial harvesting, according to the optimistic estimations, is performed only at 170-250 million of 722 million hectares.
